So, even if you don’t think you quite meet all of the skills listed or tick all the boxes, we’d still love to hear from you!

Our mission at Canva is to empower the world to design and since launching in 2013, we have grown exponentially, amassing over 75 million monthly active users across 190 different countries and a team of over 2,800 people… and the best bit is that we’ve only achieved 1% of what we know we’re capable of.

Join us and design your future.

About Data @ Canva

Canva’s data teams are critical to build a safe, secure and compliant data ecosystem that powers our business as we operate across the globe, delivering an amazing design experience through our products to our millions of customers, respecting their privacy and protecting our business.

It’s our mission to work closely with senior managers and product development teams to build a sustainable culture of delivery. We will lead complex, multi-disciplinary programs and be equally comfortable working with leadership to set strategic goals and clarify priorities, as you are with teams to communicate program status, escalate issues and manage dependencies as you are discussing technical trade-offs with an engineer.

We looking for talented Individuals with skills across the below Data specialities:

Machine Learning

  • Have a hands-on focus on technical problems, solving the most ambitious problems, and guiding the team to deliver results.
  • Develop and deliver the long-term vision for accelerating delivery of robust, innovative machine learning.
  • Drive planning and refinement of seasonal goals, ensuring there is alignment between the company, group, and teams.
  • Drive the ML Platform team to move up the "data science pyramid of needs" and continue to navigate integration into the core infrastructure of Canva.
  • Champion a culture of knowledge sharing and communication across engineering and effectively advocate for ML engineering needs to stakeholders within the Data group.
  • Own and drive the delivery of large, cross-team, and cross-group initiatives and projects from ideation to completion, with autonomy and independence of decision making.

Business Intelligence

  • Lead a team of data specialists, composed of BI Analysts, Data Analysts and sometimes Analytics Engineers. This role will act as a driver of data strategy in this group and will coordinate closely with the Product Growth Manager.
  • Find insights that help us understand both Canva and our customers - we want you to be creative and insightful, rather than just throwing the usual metrics at the wall to see what sticks.
  • Suggest and run interesting experiments that will actually move our metrics - when we push tests to 100% we want to actually see the bump in the relevant graph.
  • Build and maintain dashboards for your group’s initiatives, and make them look really good - you don’t need to be a designer or have any design talent, you just need to want to build cool things.
  • Own projects, data models, dashboards, and other artefacts and keep them up-to-date and high quality in a hyper-growth environment.

Data Analytics

  • Find insights that help us understand both Canva and our customers - we want you to be creative and insightful, rather than just throwing the usual metrics at the wall to see what sticks
  • Suggest and run interesting experiments that will actually move our metrics - when we push tests to 100% we want to actually see the bump in the relevant graph
  • Build and maintain dashboards for our product teams, and make them look really good - you don’t need to be a designer or have any design talent, you just need to want to build cool things
  • Own projects, data models, dashboards, and other artefacts and keep them up-to-date and high quality in a hypergrowth environment
  • Use our giant databases to answer the sort of questions that sound really simple but turn out to be challenging (and fun!)
  • Help us extend data literacy and curiosity throughout the whole company

Analytics Engineering

  • building and managing large data platform environments in the cloud, AWS and other platforms.
  • Managing and building out solutions to modern MPP cloud-based data warehouse solutions such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
  • Working with advanced SQL, Python coding, and data modelling skills.
  • Owning and assisting team members with event-oriented data sets of large size and diverse schemas.
  • developing dashboards and reporting systems.
  • Familiarity with a wide set of data warehousing principles, including architecture, methodologies, schemas, performance/optimization principles, and best practices.
  • Strong competency following the ELT approach to the data integration process.
